9300-M Challanges

Note: Catalyst 9300-M series existing in the same co-term Organization will require the same license edition (either Enterprise or Advanced) as the MS390. License types cannot be mixed and will result in an incompatible license error.

  • MS130, MS150, MS390, C9300 require the same license tier (either Enterprise of Advanced) across the entire Organization.
  • 9300-M switches cannot be claimed in India region. (www.meraki.in)

Catalyst to Meraki License Migration

  1. License Migration Process: When you onboard your devices to the Meraki dashboard using their Cloud IDs, there is no separate manual process required to migrate or shift your existing DNA Advantage licenses to Meraki licenses. The migration includes a 30-day grace period starting from when the device is added to the Meraki dashboard network. During this period, your DNA license acts as collateral to receive an equivalent Meraki license. The Meraki license tier will match your DNA license tier (e.g., DNA Advantage maps to Meraki Advanced), and the license duration will be equal to or greater than the remaining term of your DNA license. Any unused DNA licenses remain in your Cisco Smart Account but will continue to burn down during this time 1, 2.
  2. RMA and Hardware Coverage: If your device experiences a hardware issue during the license term and requires an RMA, the replacement device will be shipped in the management mode it was originally purchased for. For switches migrated to Meraki management mode, the RMA replacement will arrive in the original IOS-XE mode. For wireless access points like the AP9164, the replacement will come in the same management mode as when the case was opened. You must maintain an active service contract (such as Cisco Support - Standard) to ensure hardware support and RMA coverage during this period 2, 3.
  3. Technical TAC Case Eligibility: You are eligible to raise technical TAC cases for devices imported under the Meraki dashboard. However, to maintain TAC access and hardware support, you must keep an active service contract for each device. Once transitioned to a Meraki or Cisco unified license, standard support is embedded, and a separate service contract is only required if you need faster hardware replacement options or advanced RMAs beyond the warranty SLA. For software-related support within the Meraki dashboard environment, TAC access is included with the license 2, 4.
In summary, your DNA Advantage licenses will be automatically recognized and converted to equivalent Meraki licenses upon onboarding to the Meraki dashboard, hardware RMA coverage continues under your active support contracts, and you remain eligible to open TAC cases for your Meraki-managed devices.
